Full-time - Fixed-term contract for 24 months.
The Department of Chemistry is looking to recruit a Placements and Apprenticeships Officer to be responsible for the development of the undergraduate student placement programme and explore the opportunities for the introduction of postgraduate apprenticeships.
We are a successful department, consistently ranked in the top 10 in league tables and our undergraduate courses are well rated by our students. This new role gives an exciting opportunity to expand and develop our placement provision to maximise the potential of our highly capable students.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the placement provision including liaising with potential employers, communicating opportunities, enhancing student success in competitive application processes, administration, supporting placement learning and enabling articulation of skills and experience.
The post holder will have knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding work placement provision and guidance issued by relevant organisations such as ASET. They will have experience and understanding of the issues affecting the operation of placements schemes, sourcing, establishing and promoting placements opportunities preferably within a higher education environment. They will be have a key role in setting up the effective operation, monitoring and review of all policies and procedures, developing and implementing processes to meet good practice guidelines.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and problem solving skills will be required in order to liaise with a variety of stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds to establish effective working relationships is essential.
