We are seeking to recruit a future-focused Senior Lecturer to lead curriculum development in the area of constructed textiles. We are looking for an individual with understanding of innovation in contemporary constructed textile design and awareness of digital and material advancements in the subject to drive the future direction of the course and contribute to postgraduate teaching on MA Textile Design. As a senior member of the course team you will work with the Course Leader to raise the course profile and nurture external relationships with employers and feeder institutions.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of academic research and/or innovative practice in the field of contemporary constructed textiles and clear understanding of the future directions of the industry. You will be an engaging and confident teacher with the ability to design and deliver workshops and other teaching sessions which support students to become strong independent learners with a deep understanding of the creative industries they will move into. You will have experience of supporting students with a variety of constructed textiles techniques such as stitch, weave, knit and digital processes.
You will join a team of academic staff working across the undergraduate and postgraduate provision at the University and will demonstrate excellent team working and organisational skills. Your strong understanding of the business, professional and contextual issues relevant to the curriculum area and your ability to provide effective learning will enhance NUA’s graduate employability. You will demonstrate a proactive approach to curriculum design, organisation, delivery and assessment together with significant experience within UK Higher Education and proven ability to contribute to the management of the course in collaboration with the Course Leader.
