Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to join a collaborative project investigating the electric and thermoelectric properties of molecules, based in the Albrecht group in the School of Chemistry. This post will involve single- and 'many-molecule' charge transport measurements in thermal gradients, using STM and other methods, method development, fabrication of graphene-based devices, and surface electrochemistry.
This post is part of a large-scale EPSRC-funded project involving the Long and Cohen groups at Imperial College and the Lambert at the University of Lancaster. The post may be filled in October 2017, or as soon as possible after that. The successful candidate will develop and evaluate the novel compounds, working closely with other members of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of experimental and theoretical chemists and physicists.
You must have a good undergraduate degree in Chemistry (or equivalent) and a PhD in a related area (or equivalent) for appointment at Research Fellow level. You will have knowledge in a range of electrochemical and nanofabrication techniques, scanning probe techniques such as STM (ideally in electrochemical environments) as well as other relevant previous experiences in experimental research work, for example charge transport measurements in semiconductor or other devices.
For additional information please contact Dr. Tim Albrecht ([email protected]).
The University is a family-friendly employer and the School of Chemistry welcomes flexible working to suit family or other commitments. The University has on-campus childcare facilities.
