We are seeking a Senior Technician to provide specialist technical support for research at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit (www.mrcbndu.ox.ac.uk) that uses animals. The post holder will be required to play a central role in the daily organisation and smooth running of the Biomedical Services facility (BMSU) of the MRC Unit.
Candidates should have a minimum IAT Level 2 Diploma, hold a current Home Office Personal Licence, have a good track record in animal technician work with small rodents, and be fully conversant with all aspects of A(SP)A. The post holder will be part of the MRC Unit’s BMSU Core Support team, and will be based at the Unit’s main site at the Department of Pharmacology.
This is a fixed-term post (end date of 31 March 2020 in the first instance), externally funded by the Medical Research Council, to start from 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is full time, although from 22 hours per week over 5 days will be considered. The post-holder will be contractually required to undertake business critical work outside of core working days for the equivalent of up to 2 days per month, for which overtime will be paid at the appropriate rate.
This post is part of a pilot scheme testing a new Supporting Evidence form in place of the more usual ‘supporting statement’.
