The Royal College of Art is the only entirely postgraduate institution of university status dedicated to research and knowledge exchange, teaching and practice in art, design, communication and humanities. Its international reputation for excellence in teaching, research and employability has been recognised for three successive years by the highly regarded QS World Ranking survey, with the College rated the world's number one art and design University in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The College has some 1,780 students following postgraduate courses and the staff, both full- and part-time, totals approximately 400.

The College is seeking to appoint a Critical & Historical Studies (CHS) Senior Tutor (Research) Architecture Liaison to work three days per week, based in Research & Innovation. The primary responsibility of the role will be the planning and convening of the CHS Curriculum for School of Architecture (which covers programmes in Architecture, Interior Design, and new offers in City Design, Environmental Design and Exhibition Design), management of contributing visiting lecturers, supervision of dissertations, and liaison with the rest of the CHS team and the School of Architecture. The appointed candidate will be expected to contribute to cross-school teaching, research and supervision within the College, and to the development of new academic offers in the School and College as appropriate. 

The successful candidate will be experienced in providing critical and historical teaching and supervision at a post-graduate level in a relevant area of architectural history and theory in an area that is relevant to contemporary practice. The role requires a passion for teaching, and an understanding of contemporary architectural practices and agendas and their critical, cultural, global contexts. It is a requirement that the successful candidate be up-to-date with relevant new methodologies and developments in the field and have the desire to deliver the highest standards at an international level. You will be an experienced academic in a relevant field, and have several years of experience in higher education at a postgraduate level, including research supervision.
