Detail information about job Programme Director. Terms and conditions vacancy

A 50% part-time position (averaging 36.5 hours/week, though with four peak periods each year and occasional requirements to work during weekends)

The Europaeum seeks to appoint as soon as possible to the newly created position of Programme Director, a job that will prove challenging and exciting.

The Europaeum, founded in 1992, is an association of a dozen of the leading universities of Europe.  It is currently undergoing a significant restructuring and in January 2018 will be accepting the first students for a new Europaeum Scholarship programme for a select group of thirty outstanding doctoral students drawn from the member universities. The primary role for the Programme Director will be the creation and oversight of this programme.  In forming the programme, they will be working closely with the Executive Chair of the Academic Council of the European, Dr Andrew Graham (former Master of Balliol College, Oxford), the Acting Director of the Europaeum, Dr Hartmut Mayer, Fellow of St Peter’s College Oxford and with colleagues from other member universities.

In terms of the implementation of the programme, the Programme Director will be the primary person responsible for its delivery, including selecting and leading a team of part-time tutors and inviting external speakers. The programme will be taught in four intensive periods (the first week of January, Easter, the first week of July and the last week of September) and at four different venues (Oxford, Leiden, Geneva and Prague).  During these times, full time commitment is required. At other times of the year, there will be time for research.

This new position will require an exceptional person seeking to make a contribution to the future of Europe and looking for the challenge to pull together high level teaching, research and policy formation in new ways.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Thursday, 21 September, 2017.  Interviews will be held in Oxford on Thursday, 28th September and Friday morning, 29th September. Regrettably, there is no flexibility in these dates.

For further information about the Europaeum and the new programme, including the job description and details about how to apply, please read the further particulars that are attached here.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Thursday, 21 September, 2017.  All applications should be submitted by email to Kate Tilley at [email protected].
