We are looking to appoint a new Head of Quality Assurance and Collaborative Provision to support and lead on transformational change across all aspects of quality assurance and enhancement activity, with a particular focus on TNE and other collaborative partnership activity. We are seeking to appoint an experienced quality assurance professional from within the HE sector.  The Quality Assurance team forms part of Quality Support Services within Academic Services

The appointee will be responsible for leading and developing the Quality Assurance team to provide an efficient and effective service across the institution, developing the team as an authoritative source of expert advice on all matters pertaining to quality assurance. Proven experience of leading, motivating and managing high performing teams and/or individuals in the delivery and implementation of a wide range of quality assurance functions is essential.

A high-level of understanding and working knowledge of key external reference points such as the QAA UK Quality Code, CMA guidance and their articulation in a UK HE context is essential, as is a detailed understanding and experience of the approval, ongoing management and oversight of collaborative provision both in the UK and overseas. You will be responsible for the management of the University’s portfolio of collaborative arrangements, supported by a Quality Assurance Officer and other members of the wider. Accuracy, attention to detail and maintenance of definitive records is therefore of critical importance.

The role will include responsibility for leading on policy development, implementation and oversight across BCU and its collaborative partners. You will be expected to evidence prior experience of developing policy and procedures for various quality assurance activities e.g. programme approval, monitoring, review, collaborative provision, external examining etc.

The appointee will be expected to work closely with colleagues in the wider department and faculties and across the University to deliver excellence in the development of systems and processes that support the various quality assurance functions. Through pragmatic leadership, expert advice and support you will ensure that those systems and processes meet the needs of our customers (staff and students) and that the University continues to meet the expectations of external regulatory bodies (e.g. QAA, HEFCE, OfS, PSRBs etc.). Detailed awareness of ongoing developments in the external regulatory landscape in UK HE and well-developed networks with other quality assurance professionals is also highly desirable.

The Person

You will be leading a team forming part of a wider department striving for precision. Your leadership skills will be crucial in recruiting, training and developing staff within your team.  You will have outstanding communication skills and display the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence colleagues. These skills will be of particular importance when seeking to implement necessary changes to policy and/or practice at BCU.

Collaborative provision and related activities will form a significant part of this role. You will therefore be expected to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and intercultural awareness when managing relationships with our collaborative partners.

In order to carry out your duties, in particular those relating to collaborative provision, you will be expected to be able to travel both within the UK and overseas.

Please upload a CV and covering letter as part of your application for this role.
