Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
Grade: Reader and Senior Lecturer – Grade 9; Lecturer – Grade 8 or 7 (dependent on level of appointment)
Day to Day Reporting to: Head of Division
Reporting Line Manager: Associate Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Research-Led Teaching) and the Dean of School
Duration of employment: Permanent, subject to successful completion of a 3 year probationary period for lecturers (please see https://www.dundee.ac.uk/hr/policiesprocedures/probationacad/)
Location: The post holder will be based within the School of Medicine on the Ninewells Campus
We are seeking an exceptional individual with a strong track record of research and research-led teaching to join the School of Medicine. The successful candidate will significantly enhance our research in cardiovascular and/or systems medicine, attract external funding and foster interdisciplinary links across the wider University.
Excellence in research will be demonstrable through the highest quality publications supported by appropriate research funding. We expect evidence of independent funding and supervision of research students (such as MSc, PhD and/or MD students).
In addition to leading a strong program of research, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research-led teaching in cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology. This will include module leadership and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have a track record of excellence in delivering research-led teaching to BSc, intercalated BMSc, MSci, MRes and/or MSc students.
