We are seeking a Senior Research Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology at the Centre for Statistics in Medicine, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Science, to be based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford. You will join the Pharmaco- and Device epidemiology research group, a dynamic and successful group led by Associate Professor Prieto-Alhambra, working to improve understanding of the safety and effectiveness of new and long-licensed medications and devices for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, arthritis, osteoporosis and other related conditions.

As a Senior Research Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology, you will work on on-going trials and studies to support this research through local, national and international collaborations. Future studies in this same field have been recently awarded and will become part of your research portfolio in due course. Your responsibilities will include (amongst others): coordinating and supporting a suite of research projects from inception through to  dissemination/publication, analysis and interpretation of routinely collected databases, formal supervision and line management of junior statisticians and/or epidemiologists and supervision of PhD students.

You will have a doctoral degree in pharmacoepidemiology or related field, demonstrable expertise in statistical packages as well as ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams and independently. Knowledge of medical statistics and epidemiology, ability to work to tight deadlines as well as ability to write reports to tight deadlines is essential. Ability to develop and apply new statistical concepts, experience in propensity score/s, instrumental variable/s as well as experience of making presentations at international conferences are desirable.
