Detail information about job PhD Studentship: Wolfson Centre for Materials Processing. Terms and conditions vacancy

Applications are invited for one PhD studentship working on the development of Perovskite solar cells at our newly refurbished laboratories on Energy Conversion Devices for Solar Energy. The Wolfson Centre carries out world leading research on materials characterisation and processing of novel materials including low cost, non-toxic semiconducting materials for solar energy conversion, lighting and displays using phosphors and OLEDs, including biomaterials and polymers for biodegradable packaging and formulation of biofuels.

A collection of materials characterisation techniques are at our disposal, including a recently commissioned transmission electron microscope. The successful applicant will engage with researchers at Imperial College, Oxford, Cambridge, Swansea and Edinburgh Universities who are part of the Brunel led EPSRC funded project called APEX-II.

Eligibility

Applicants will have or be expected to hold a first degree at 2:1 or above in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or a related subject ideally with knowledge of semiconductors, physics of solar cells especially nanostructured solar cells. A Masters qualification is an advantage but not essential.

The PhD studentship is for a period of three (3) years effective 1st October 2017. The successful applicant will receive an annual stipend of £20,000 plus payment of their full time Home/EU tuition fees. Overseas candidates are welcome to apply but they will be required to top up the fee component to meet difference between the full time international and home/EU tuition fee rate.

Project Details

Applicants should submit the documents below to be considered for a research project “Towards the Development of Stable Perovskite Solar Cells and their Scaling Up Issues”. The research will involve the synthesis and characterization of new perovskite materials, development of transparent conductors and fabrication of efficient solar cells (tandem solar cells) and their characterization. Informal enquires may be addressed to Professor Hari Upadhyaya at [email protected]

How to Apply

Please e-mail your application comprising of all the documents listed below to [email protected] by 12:00pm on Tuesday 12th September 2017.
