You will provide proactive support to your allocated areas, as well as other customers and colleagues of the School. You will be expected to effectively manage and respond to high volume information requests and queries providing accurate responses in line with the expected standards of service, School policy and current employment law. In order to succeed in the role, you will need to develop effective working relationships with staff at all levels across the School as well as internally within the HR Division.

As HR Adviser you will also provide valuable input in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures across the School, and will be afforded the opportunity to actively contribute to wider HR initiatives through platforms such as working groups and feedback requests. The HR Division as a whole is committed to continually improving and enhancing its service to the School and as HR Adviser you would be responsible for identifying and sharing ideas and suggestions to help drive forward.

Skills and Experience

Previous experience of supporting in a busy employee relations environment and giving advice to managers is essential, as well as a good understanding and knowledge of current HR legislation.

Relevant office experience and a strong interest in Human Resources is essential. Along with good IT skills, a familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) is crucial, and excellent written and spoken communication skills is also essential to the role.

A passion for delivering high quality customer service in the form of HR advice and support is vital, as well as the ability to take ownership of your workload to plan, prioritise and deliver on time.

The HR Division works with electronic employee record and recruitment systems and whilst training will be provided, demonstrable experience in working with these previously would be highly desirable, as would previous experience within the Higher Education sector.
