We require a permanent Library Assistant to work in the Scholarly Communications team at Headington Library. The post is 0.6 FTE (22 hours) and the pattern of work is flexible as long as it is between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend working would be extremely rare. The initial annual leave entitlement is pro rata to 25 days per annum, plus statutory holidays and concessionary days.

The specific work of this post will relate to the activities of the Scholarly Communications team, responsibilities in this area are detailed below.

You will be responsible for:

  • Creating and editing records of research publications on the CRIS (Current Research Information System) and the Institutional Repository
  • Liaising with academics regarding their research publications on the CRIS and the Institutional Repository
  • Assigning DOI's (Digital Object Identifiers) to documents published by Oxford Brookes
  • Administering applications for Article Processing Charges
  • Processing and uploading electronic dissertations to the Institutional Repository
  • Helping to promote Special Collections through involvement in digitization projects

You should have:

  • Good general education with grade C or above GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
  • Experience of library, archive, clerical or retail work, including face to face customer service
  • Ability to demonstrate customer care skills
  • Ablility to demonstrate good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working in a team and contributing to the effectiveness of a team.
