We are seeking an Events Officer at the School of Geography and the Environment, an acknowledged world leader in its field. Geography has never been more relevant to our daily lives as the world faces growing human and environmental challenges that require urgent solutions. The School is highly active in this agenda with a large number of diverse events linked to its global research, teaching and knowledge exchange.

The School’s events range from international conferences, workshops and seminars to an annual calendar of alumni activities and Open Days for schools. Most events include external visitors and they must be run professionally with an appropriate focus on hospitality and modern technology.

You will be responsible for helping to plan, organise and implement the full range of events. As part of the Development and Alumni team, and together with the Communications team, you will also review the success of events and take steps to improve their value to the School and event participants.

The successful candidate will have a good level of education to A level standard or equivalent. Your experience of being responsible for the organisation of small and large scale events will be essential. You will have a high level of computer literacy and strong organisational skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills including preparation of reports and website content are also a must.

You will be expected to be flexible and prepared to work out of regular hours occasionally.

This is a fixed-term post for 2 years in the first instance.
