The Student Counselling Service is recruiting two sessional counsellors to provide evening appointments during semester time (September to May).  Counsellors will be available for three counselling sessions between the hours of 5pm and 9pm.  One post is for Monday and Thursday evenings the other is for Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Successful applicants will be required to work from our centre in the Main Library, George Square.

Applications are invited from qualified and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists to undertake individual work with students in this busy and well-respected multi-disciplinary Service.  You will be educated to graduate level, have a recognised professional qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy, with a minimum of two years post-qualifying practice experience, preferably in a similar institutional setting. You will be accredited by BACP (or equivalent) or be working towards accreditation.

You should be interested in working in a team, have a clear understanding of how the organisational context impacts on therapeutic decisions, knowledge of adolescent development and be skilled in practising brief therapy. The Student Counselling Service is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. 

The role is contracted on a ‘Guaranteed offer of hours’ basis, and the hourly rate includes an annual leave allowance.
