The Institute of Dentistry (IoD) is one of six Institutes in the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD), located primarily on our Whitechapel site. It has a personnel of 176, financial turnover of c£14.6 million per annum and research expenditure of c£1.4 million per annum. It is comprised of 4 academic centres.
The IoD has been conducting internationally recognised research in oral and dental sciences in Whitechapel for more than a century and is the top rated UK Dental School for quality of dental research, as assessed in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. Dentistry was ranked at number 1 in the Complete University Guide 2018 and 2nd in the Guardian University League tables (2018). In spring 2014, the Institute moved into brand new state-of-the-art premises, The Royal London Dental Hospital and QMUL Dental School. The new Dental School and Hospital houses the most modern and technologically advanced equipment in the UK, following more than a decade of planning and work.
Applications are now invited for the post of Institute manager/General Manager to join this prominent Institute.
Applicants should be educated to degree level, or equivalent, plus a management qualification or PhD or equivalent. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload.
The post is full time and permanent, starting November 2017 (or as soon as possible thereafter). Starting salary will be in the range £52,878 - £59,104 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan and family-friendly working.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
