Competitive salary and benefits

A unique high-profile opportunity has arisen to join the award-winning fundraising team at the University of Leicester.

This is an exciting time to join us, as we have just completed the most successful financial year for philanthropic fundraising in the history of the University. Our dedicated and experienced team of major- and principal-gift fundraisers are working effectively with University leadership and senior academics to bring in more and larger gifts, ranging from the six to the mid-seven figures, to support the University’s strategic priorities. We are also increasingly engaging with our 170,000-member global alumni community to build a robust pipeline of small and mid-level giving.

Our ambitions are set to increase as the University approaches its centenary commemorations period (2018-2021) and prepares for its second century.

To support these aspirations, we are expanding our team, and are therefore seeking a Director of Philanthropy to build on our accomplishments to date. The successful candidate will work closely with the Group Director for Philanthropy, Alumni and External Engagement to shape and drive a strategy to raise £5-10m per year from a variety of philanthropic sources. You will have a senior role in developing and implementing a comprehensive philanthropic fundraising programme, including capital appeals.

Your significant track record of successfully cultivating and soliciting major gifts at the 6-figure level or more, and ability to deliver a comprehensive fundraising programme, will be key to your success in this role. You have strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, are self motivated and enjoy working towards and achieving ambitious targets. A track record of managing and motivating experienced fundraising staff, including supporting others in securing major gifts, is critical, as is your ability to gain the trust of and inspire those around you.
