Detail information about job Research Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy

Applications are invited for the position of Research Associate, to work in the Angiogenesis Research Group led by Dr Graeme Birdsey, to study the role of growth factor signalling in mediating the transcriptional regulation of angiogenesis.

You will work on a BHF-funded project aimed at investigating the cellular and molecular pathways controlled by isoforms of the transcription factor ERG, a master regulator of endothelial homeostasis and angiogenesis. Using in vitro and in vivo models, we have recently discovered a new role for ERG in controlling physiological and pathological angiogenesis and vascular stability (Birdsey et al., Developmental Cell 2015; Shah et al., Nature Communications 2017). The aim of this project is to define the signalling networks controlled by ERG isoforms and their role in regulating sprouting angiogenesis. The project combines biochemical studies, in vitro molecular cell biology approaches with ex vivo models, and will involve endothelial cell culture and bioinformatics analysis.

We are seeking a highly-motivated scientist to join a collaborative team of research scientists interested in vascular biology. You should have a PhD in a relevant biological discipline and have experience in studying signalling pathways. A strong background in biochemistry is essential. Previous experience in angiogenesis research and knowledge of gene transcription pathways and bioinformatics analysis would be desirable. The post will require collaboration with other groups both within and outside the Vascular Sciences department.

The post is full-time fixed-term until May 5th 2019 and based at the Hammersmith Campus, located near White City, London.
