Applications are invited for an Environmental Management Research Support Assistant to provide efficient and effective project and administrative support to Professor Nick Voulvoulis at the Centre for Environmental Policy based at the South Kensington Campus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, administration and day to day running of the various projects being worked on within the environmental quality research group and all associated activities in accordance with project aims and under the direction of Professor Voulvoulis, including supporting research proposals and applications for research funds. You will communicate extensively with Professor Voulvoulis’ students and postdocs, and various external partners relating to the projects.

Current research projects involve exploring the potential of systems thinking in water policy (GLOBAQUA), investigating the fate of nanomaterials during wastewater treatment (NANORISK), developing tools to address the conflicting demands of the water-energy-food nexus (Anglian Water research programme), and delivering options for “closing the loop” in resources management ,to enable transition to a safer, circular and sustainable future.

You will have a relevant academic/vocational qualifications plus some work experience in a relevant role, or the equivalent in experience. Previous work experience in a relevant role, experience of working in Water Industry and/or Higher Education environment and experience of working on projects is essential. Interest or knowledge of water sector issues, strong administrative, research and information collection skills are also essential. You will be computer literate with the ability to use relevant ICT: Microsoft Office; Outlook (email, diary, contacts etc); spreadsheets (Excel), presentations (PowerPoint).

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism. You will have a proactive approach to work, and good time management and organisational skills. Ability to set and work to deadlines and willingness to work under pressure from time to time in order to meet deadlines are essential. Accuracy and attention to detail, ability to work independently, ability to work methodically and use of own initiative and to prioritise your work are also essential. Ability to deal with confidential information and ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.

This is a full time, fixed term position available for up to 10 months.
