We are looking to recruit an experienced part-time Finance Officer to take administrative responsibility for financial, procurement and casual staff contracting activities in the School.  The role holder will support the Dean and School Manager to ensure sound financial management by maintaining a good working knowledge of all university financial policies, procedures, systems and reporting mechanisms. 

This is a key role reporting directly to the School Manager, in which you will act as the main point of contact for day-to-day operational finance issues.  The role holder will offer a professional advice and guidance service to School staff as appropriate, ensuring that all queries are resolved in an accurate and timely manner.

You will ideally have experience of working in an academic or research environment and will have a good knowledge of financial procedures and basic accounting principles.  You must have excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues internally and externally to the School, including the Faculty Management Accountant and other central finance staff.    The role holder must also be able to demonstrate good analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and a high level of numeracy.  A proven ability to prioritise your workload including working to tight deadlines is essential, as is experience of working independently.   The nature of the work will involve access to confidential data and information and it is therefore essential that the person appointed to this post is able to rigorously maintain confidentiality at all times.
