Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM), Structural Genomics Consortium, Old Road Campus Research Building, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford OX3 7DQ 

Grade 6: £27,629 - £32,958 p.a. 

The SGC (Structural Genomics Consortium) is seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to provide molecular biology, eukaryotic expression and protein production support for a collaborative project between the SGC and the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology. The project is based on a discovery by the group of a novel mechanism of enhancing tissue regeneration by targeting endogenous stem cells and your project will be aimed at further understanding the signalling pathways. 

In your role as Research Assistant, you will have excellent knowledge and experience of expressing proteins in baculovirus/insect or mammalian systems, and of protein purification from large scale cultures. Additionally, you will have the ability to optimise expression conditions, troubleshoot problems and contribute to the design of experimental plans. You will liaise closely with a PhD student, therefore effective work planning, and written and oral communication are essential. 

You will hold a BSc degree or equivalent experience in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or chemistry and have the ability to work under minimal supervision.
