We are looking to appoint a new Quality Assurance Manager within the Quality Assurance team to take a lead role in transformational change across all aspects of quality assurance and enhancement activity. We are seeking to appoint an experienced quality assurance professional from within the Higher Education sector. The Quality Assurance team forms part of Quality Support Services within Academic Services.

Reporting to and supporting the Head of Quality Assurance & Collaborative Provision you will be responsible for leading your team to provide an efficient and effective service across the institution, developing the team as an authoritative source of expert advice on all matters pertaining to quality assurance. Regularly you will review and assess team performance, appropriately allocate work across the team, ensuring best practice is adhered to, to improve services. Experience of leading, motivating and managing high performing teams and/or individuals in the delivery and implementation of a wide range of quality assurance functions is essential.

A well-developed working knowledge of key guidelines such as the QAA UK Quality Code, CMA guidance and their articulation in a UK HE context is essential, as is a detailed understanding and experience of the approval, ongoing management and oversight of collaborative provision both in the UK and overseas. You will take a lead role in supporting the development and maintenance of collaborative partnerships, working closely with your peers.

The post encompasses a wide range of quality assurance activities including programme approval/re-approval, annual monitoring, review and collaborative provision. In many of these activities you will be expected to act as an Officer (Panel Secretary). Proven experience of advising and guiding Panels on matters of policy and regulation and the completion of high quality written reports of approval events and/or minutes of senior University Committees is essential.

The role will include responsibility for leading on policy development, implementation and oversight across BCU and its collaborative partners. You will be expected to evidence prior experience of developing policy and procedures for various quality assurance activities e.g. programme approval, monitoring, review, collaborative provision, external examining etc.

As Quality Assurance Manager you will work closely with colleagues across the University to continuously improve systems and processes that support the various quality assurance functions, ensuring those systems and processes meet the needs of our customers (staff and students). Also ensuring the University meets the expectations of external regulatory bodies (e.g. QAA, HEFCE, OfS, PSRBs etc.). Understanding of ongoing developments in the external regulatory landscape in UK Higher Education is also highly desirable.

The Person

As one of two Quality Assurance Managers you will lead a small team, striving for precision across all day to day operations. Your leadership skills will be crucial in developing your team.  You will have outstanding communication skills and display the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence colleagues. These skills will be of particular importance when seeking to implement necessary changes to policy and/or practice at BCU.

Collaborative provision and related activities form a significant part of this role, therefore you will demonstrate tact, diplomacy and intercultural awareness when managing relationships with our collaborative partners.

Please upload a CV and covering letter as part of your application for this role.
