The School of History, Classics and Archaeology seeks to appoint a Research Assistant who will assist in the design and creation of a database on environmental change in Prehistoric Shetland. This project has been awarded funding from the University Challenge Investment Fund.
The role will require working with standard software and knowledge on datasets generated by research on environmental archaeology. The candidate will be in charge of identifying and processing environmental datasets potentially linked to adaptive processes. The data-search requires the extensive use of existing search engines and data-repositories, and the contact with other researchers wiling to contribute to the project.
Candidates will have an undergraduate degree in Archaeology, Geography or a related subject and a background on paleoenvironmental reconstruction techniques.
Applications from current PhD students are welcome and should be made in line with University recommendations that PhD students work no more than 6 hours a week.
Start date: 1st November 2017.
This post is fixed term until 30th June 2018 .
