An Employability and Alumni Intern is required within the College of Humanities at the University of Exeter. The post involves supporting the delivery of employability events, work placements and initiatives to students, as well as engaging with alumni focussed activities. This paid internship is available for 11 months.

Main duties and responsibilities will include working closely with the College’s Employability Manager to deliver a programme of employability related events and activities in support of careers preparation. The appointee will also be expected to monitor attendance at events and collate feedback to ensure that the service is continuously improved, as well as ensuring that these events and activities are communicated clearly and effectively to students through a range of media. With the guidance of the College’s Employability Manager, the appointee will also work collaboratively with Humanities students to ensure that the events delivered meet their needs and support student-led initiatives wherever possible and relevant. The appointee will also have the opportunity to work on delivering a project that aims to encourage final year undergraduates to engage with employability activities both during their final year and after graduation, also aiming to encourage finalists to stay in touch beyond graduation and to engage as alumni in the future. The appointee will also work on other alumni based activities including, actively recruiting alumni volunteers to support specific activities, maintain accurate records of alumni volunteering on the alumni database, and writing regular newsletters to alumni and keeping information on the website up to date.

We are looking for a highly organised graduate, who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to correspond in a friendly and professional manner with staff at all levels. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of delivering high quality customer service, with the ability to pay excellent attention to detail and keep accurate records , as well as being able to work on multiple tasks, prioritising work effectively in the face of conflicting demands and tight deadlines. The successful candidate will also have a keen interest in student and alumni engagement, with a demonstrable ability to use their own initiative in the workplace and have experience of team work and collaboration. Applicants should also be competent users of Microsoft software packages including Word, Excel and Outlook, and an interest in the employability agenda in Higher Education would be advantageous.
