Start: January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter
The School of Modern Languages is seeking to appoint a scholar with an international reputation to a Senior Lectureship or Readership in Arabic from early January 2018.
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate the ability to attract grant funding and lead high quality externally funded research projects. The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of interests and to be highly active in research publication that strengthens or complements those in the Department.
Candidates must hold a PhD, should possess native or near-native language skills in Arabic and English, should have an internationally recognised research record and a clear programme of anticipated research activity for the coming years. They should also have a commitment to delivering high quality teaching within the broad field of Arabic Studies, and to be capable of teaching the subject to undergraduate and postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds.
