We are looking for a companion animal epidemiologist to promote clinical research training via the coordination of undergraduate and postgraduate level research projects within the VetCompass programme. This academic full time equivalent position will be based at the RVC within the Veterinary Epidemiology, Economics and Public Health (VEEPH) Group and the researcher will work within the VetCompass team. VetCompass, the RVC-lead companion animal surveillance programme, (www.rvc.ac.uk/vetcompass), holds de-identified data from 498 practices relating to approximately 6 million animals in the UK. The academic will develop and promote VetCompass research projects and coordinate supervision of a range of researchers. The lecturer/senior lecturer will be involved in developing and overseeing a portfolio of VetCompass projects at both undergraduate and masters/doctoral levels. The lecturer/senior lecturer will benefit from extensive experience of undertaking and supervising a range of projects within VetCompass in the development this range of student lead VetCompass projects. The researcher will also work more generally within the VetCompass Programme to contribute to the overall management and the wider promotion of the project and its findings to new and existing collaborator practices. As such they will play a role in communication with participating practices, co-ordinating new enquiries and the broader promotion of VetCompass to a wide range of academic, industrial and practice stakeholders.

The researcher will be a veterinary surgeon with a Masters and PhD in veterinary epidemiology. Experience in writing scientific papers and presentation of scientific findings would be an essential requirement as would prior experience of analysing VetCompass electronic health records. They should be enthusiastic and highly motivated, with excellent organisational, written and interpersonal skills and able to work well in a team.
