Are you passionate about developing new ideas for effective communication around change? Do you have experience of producing, proofreading and editing copy to a high standard for web, multimedia, social media, campaigns and print?

We are offering an exciting opportunity become a part of the Simplifying Kent Programme Team to plan, manage and organise high quality and targeted communication and engagement activities in support of the programme and its different projects.

The role is being offered on a fixed term for 12 months and part time, namely 0.5fte.

As Programme Communications Manager you will:

  • lead on the development of a communications strategy and plan for the Simplifying Kent Programme
  • support project managers in the programme with their communication and stakeholder engagement strategies, plans and activities
  • devise, manage and implement high quality and targeted communication and stakeholder engagement strategies, plans and activities
  • oversee and co-ordinate communication from the 9 Simplifying Kent projects

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a professional or postgraduate qualification in PR, communications or marketing; or substantial and demonstrable PR or marketing experience
  • experience of working within a communications role within a complex organisation
  • experience of stakeholder engagement in support of change projects and programmes
  • knowledge of the HE sector and the changing role of universities

Set up in 2014 the Business Improvement and Projects Unit has responsibility for providing a range of services around Project Management and Business Improvement at Kent, with a view to:

  • Developing and maintaining a project management framework to manage, monitor and support major University Projects to successful delivery
  • Developing the institution’s capability to deliver projects through staff who are appropriately qualified, trained and supported
  • Creating a network of project managers to share best practice, ensure consistency and develop skills
  • Developing and overseeing business improvement plans and programmes such as the Simplifying Kent Programme, a large scale business improvement programme that is a key focus for Kent over the coming years.
