Fixed term maternity cover contract until 03 August 2018 or the return of the postholder

In this role you will provide support to the Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry laboratory (PNACL), which is a core facility providing complex analytical services to researchers in the College of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology and other external customers.

You will be responsible for planning and organising your own work within the DNA sequencing and Proteomic facility including sample preparation, analysis, data interpretation and archiving to ensure the service offers a reliable, accurate and cost effective service to its end users.

We are looking for someone who has a technical or scientific education to ONC or NVQ3 level with a proven knowledge of technical and scientific practices and procedures. You will be an effective communicator, working together with users of the service to discuss details of the samples submitted and propose best practice to obtain accurate results. You will also have the ability, with appropriate training, to carry out sophisticated analytical experiments with a high degree of reliability and accuracy.
