Golder New Zealand has a fantastic opportunity for a Contaminated Site Consultant to join our Christchurch team. 

To be successful you will have a range of expertise in the contaminated land business, particularly in the areas related to environmental site assessments, landfills, soils and groundwater monitoring risk assessment, ex-situ and in-situ remediation, and environmental liability management.  You will be expected to have a sound working knowledge of the New Zealand national and regional guidelines relating to contaminated site assessments.  You will also be expected to work collaboratively within a team and build positive professional relationship across Golder.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Task management and coordination of groundwater monitoring programs, environmental site assessments, and remediation programs.

  • Undertaking contaminated sites and hydrogeological investigations (preliminary and detailed) including field investigations of soil, water leachate and ground gas and scheduling subsequent laboratory analyses.

  • Preparing technical reports, including assessment and interpretation of data and the development of conceptual site models.

  • Being competent in the application of the Ministry for the Environment Contaminated Land Guidelines and other regulatory controls for contaminated sites – such as the Resource Management Act, National Environmental Standard, regional and city/district plans, etc.

  • Assisting with project management of small to medium sized projects, or task management of particular tasks and elements within a larger scale project.

  • Assisting with mentoring and development of junior staff.

Qualifications

 

Applicants will have a Bachelors’ degree in earth sciences or environmental engineering, several years of direct experience in contaminated sites work, including extensive field experience. Previous consulting experience would be highly desirable.
