Plant & Food Research is a New Zealand-based science company providing research and development that adds value to fruit, vegetable, crop and food products. Our science and commercialisation supports the production of high quality produce and novel functional foods that earn a premium in international markets.

Together with other members of our Plant Pathology Group, you'll provide specialist expertise in pathology as you contribute to new and existing sector-focused research programmes for kiwifruit and other crops relevant to the Bay of Plenty. This will include designing and carrying out a wide variety of research projects and developing practical strategies and outcomes that will support and enhance the resilience of the kiwifruit and other locally-based sectors to imminent or future threats.

As a minimum you will have a postgraduate qualification (MSc or similar) in plant pathology, with experience in plant mycology and/or bacteriology and its application in applied plant pathology research. You will also be skilled in the application of molecular tools applicable to plant pathology research. A full New Zealand driver's licence and the ability to travel to horticultural areas for field research will be essential.
