We are looking for an analytical chemist to join our laboratory team on a part time, fixed term basis. The initial contracting period will cover six months and there is potential for this position to extend into a permanent, full time position after the fixed term expires. Part time hours will be from 0.75 – 1.0 FTE, as required.
The role itself is a hands-on position in our laboratory. The analyst will be expected to perform method development, method validation as well as routine sample preparation for established methods. There is potential for this position to turn into a laboratory manager position.
We are a small forensic science company in West Auckland specialising in the analysis of environmental samples via GC-MS. We own and operate our own analytical laboratory and are IANZ accredited for one of our analytical methods.
The analyst role includes:
- method validation
- method development
- QA/QC implementation
- general laboratory tasks including sample preparation
To be considered for this position you must have:
- a postgraduate qualification in Forensic Science or Chemistry or a National Diploma in Science (Advanced Technician)(Level 6)
- New Zealand Residency or a valid New Zealand work visa
- good health and safety awareness
- previous experience in a laboratory setting with analytical equipment (e.g. GC-MS). Past work experience in a commercial laboratory is not required, however the candidate must be able to demonstrate their ability to adapt to such settings.
