We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Environmental Management Advisor to join our Innovation and Strategy team. This is a newly created role and will be based in our Christchurch office. The role is part-time (approx. 25 hours per week) for a two year fixed term.
About the role
Supporting the Environmental Policy Specialist, as a first point of contact for guidance on crucial environmental compliance requirements, primarily within our Stores Operations network. You'll help us lead the way in meeting our environmental management obligations. You'll ensure relevant technical work undertaken by external specialist consultants is scoped and delivered on time and budget.
You'll work closely with the regional Stores Operations Managers and senior staff in manufacturing and the supply chain across New Zealand. You'll also support the Environmental Policy Specialist in reviewing policy documents and submissions.
This is the ideal role to use your RMA knowledge and previous experience in rural or operational environments to make a real difference to our business. You will need to be self-motivated with a strong focus on delivering environmentally sustainable outcomes.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will ideally possess the following:
- 5 - 10 years' experience within a relevant technical or planning discipline
- A Bachelor's degree in science, resource management planning or natural resources engineering
- Sound science based technical knowledge in the area of resource management/environmental management
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to think strategically and be open-minded to new approaches to resolving traditional issues
- Skilled in developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Experience in understanding and translating technical reports and RMA planning documents
- Experience in operational workplaces such as farms and factories
- A self-managing and results driven approach to work
