This is a unique opportunity for a property professional looking to make a positive contribution in this new role, providing property centric expertise and advice to Council, to successfully enable the optimisation of its diverse property holdings for the betterment of the city.
The focus of this role is to analyse the property holdings, looking for opportunities that align to Council’s strategic objectives and to diligently ‘unlock’ value within the property portfolio. The resulting benefits will include supporting the city as a thriving community and business centre, enhanced economic development, and ensuring value for ratepayers from Council property holdings.
The key responsibilities are to provide advice on Council’s property holdings including portfolio analysis, planning, proposal and business case preparation and to project manage property related projects; all requiring solid judgement and project management to achieve successful completion.
To be successful in this role you must possess significant property experience across the property life-cycle, strong project management skills, an ability to problem solve complex issues, sound judgement and have credibility with stakeholders. You will have experience with local government and understand the political environment, be a strategic thinker, collaborative and influencing in style, demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to manage diverse and complex stakeholder relationships including with Council staff, Iwi, the private property sector, elected Council members and government agencies.
A tertiary qualification in a related property field (property, law, valuation, etc) is desirable along with knowledge of relevant legislation, and proven experience in property investment, funding and feasibility, acquisition and disposals, property development and regeneration, property management and portfolio optimisation.
