Fisheries New Zealand is a new business unit established within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to drive a stronger focus on managing New Zealand's valuable fisheries resources and their place in the wider marine environment.

We have an exciting new opportunity of Senior Business Adviser within the Planning and Process Improvement team

The purpose of the position is to provide business planning and analysis, financial analysis, reporting, identification of risks, and development of branch metrics to inform and support Fisheries New Zealand.  The position will also provide support to the management of our Grants Management System.

Some of the work will be project based, ranging in scope and size. The position works on activities across Fisheries New Zealand and MPI, with a focus on business systems and continuous improvement.

Bring your relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant relevant work experience along with your attention to detail and your enjoyment of working in a fast moving, busy environment where no two days are the same. 

Key Skills Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a planning and support environment (public or private sector)
  • Experience in managing internally focussed relationships
  • Sound knowledge of financial management systems and processes.
  • Proven experience in analysing technical issues and making business recommendations with financial impact
  • High level of analytical ability
  • Excellent Written Communications and verbal presentation skills
  • Computer literacy : Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Visio
