Kāpiti Coast District Council is looking for a customer engagement superstar to join our tight-knit and energetic call centre team. As a Customer Service Officer you will be the first point of contact for our residents and customers via our phone and digital channels.

This role offers great variety and on a daily basis you will receive and respond to a wide range of enquiries and information requests. Our council is responsible for a number of vital community services and facilities so no two days are the same.

We're working hard to offer our customers new ways to engage and transact with us. This role will be ideally suited to someone who is digitally savvy and keen to use their digital engagement experience to help us grow what we offer online. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and pride yourself on providing customers with an honest, caring and accurate experience when they get in touch.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • experience working in a contact centre with responsibility for digital customer channels is essential
  • experience working in a customer service and administration-focused environment
  • demonstrated high level of computer and digital/social media literacy and an understanding of trends and approaches in digital customer engagement
  • excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and capability to deal with a wide range of people within and outside the organization
  • ability to be flexible with working hours to accommodate customer service levels
  • demonstrated successful time management and organisational skills, and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • demonstrated accurate data entry and numeracy skills
  • excellent communication skills both oral and written, with ability to communicate a wide range of information to a wide variety of audiences through a variety of channels
  • demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and also without supervision as required
  • demonstrated high level of PC operational ability and familiarity with common software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office, MS Word, MS Excel) and ability to learn new systems and processes
  • holder of a current and valid New Zealand Drivers Licence is preferred
  • demonstrated understanding of the Council policies or ability and willingness to gain such knowledge.
