About the business
Howick Ltd manufactures specialist automated rollfoming machinery that are exported globally for the construction industry.
About the role
This role will report to the General Manager and will be required to support the Design Manager and Senior Controls Engineer to establish professional engineering processes and best practices within the company that are appropriate for a high value machinery exporter.
The successful applicant will be required to help lead the company in future product development requirements in respect of both the Electrical and Controls aspects of the machinery and to play a significant role within the company R&D programme.
They will also be required to have a technical supervision responsibility for the electrical production works within the machinery manufacture and will be required to specify equipment and assist in the electrical procurement.
Integration between the machine controls and the high level (PC) software is a key element of the product design that you will be required to collaborate on with the design and controls team.
The role is a key service support role for both customers and overseas distributors, so flexibility is required along with in depth knowledge of machine processes.
What you will be doing
- Designing and documenting electrical and safety systems.
- Specifying control cabinet and wiring designs.
- Building and supervising the build of electrical control systems.
- Supervising junior electrical engineers.
- Working with the senior controls Engineer to develop the overall controls system architecture.
- Working with the Design Manger to integrate the controls hardware into the mechanical design.
- Quality control and safety checks of machinery prior to commissioning and before shipping.
Skills and experience
Applicants for this position must hold a current NZ Electrical practising license and have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
