We are a nationwide property owner within the tourism industry seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic in-house Project Manager to manage a variety of small and large building projects including interiors at our sites. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience and expertise in the Tourism sector working from within and client side. Tourism is currently New Zealand’s largest industry in the export market and continuing to grow annually

 

Specifically in this role you will provide professional technical advice and expertise to the Corporate team and General managers.  The role requires a mix of engaging and managing consultants, contracts management, organizing sub trades, procurement of key items, site co-ordination and management to obtain the best possible outcomes for a variety of new builds and building refresh projects, governed by a strict tender and audit process. 

 

The role would suit a candidate that has work experience within the refurbishment and interiors construction sector, ideally but not necessarily within hospitality. You will have an eye for detail and can develop efficient systems for the completion of projects. Of most importance is your communication and relationship management skills as well as your ability to lead and drive a team in a project. 

Key success factors for this role require:

  • A tertiary qualification in building or construction
  • Strong knowledge of building materials, structures and systems
  • Good project management skills and experience
  • Sound knowledge of the local materials market and relevant commercial construction legislation
  • Ability to lead and performance manage construction teams to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Sound financial management with ability to drive cost accountability
  • Outstanding written and oral communication
