  • Very early starts – from 5am – with similarly early finish
  • Dynamic, fast paced role
  • Central location

What this role offers

If you thrive in a business that is a market leader and if you prefer to start your work early and enjoy time for yourself later in the day, read on.

Our client employer offers the very real potential for internal development and longer-term promotion.  Theirs is an industry that is competitive and as such, you will be recognised for the work you do, as you proactively go after every sales opportunity you can seize – whilst genuinely caring for your customers and suppliers, and giving generously of your time, energy and unbeatable service, to foster their ongoing loyalty.

Hours

  • This role offers early starts - and similarly early finish
  • Start 5am to around 1 or 2pm - Monday, Wednesday & Friday
  • Start 7.30am to 2pm - Tuesday & Thursday
  • 40 hours per week

Duties

In this busy Wholesale Department, your focus will be on:

  • Sales to Retail customers
  • Regular outgoing phone contact with known customers
  • Bringing on new or lapsed customers
  • Responding to incoming queries regarding stock – and converting those enquiries into sales and a happy customer
  • Managing, ordering and display of product

A typical day will start with you checking orders that have come in via email and fax, and assembling product for sale to on-site buyers.

From there you will get an idea of what products you need to stock up on, so you will liaise with your colleagues in Purchasing to get those items ordered.

When product arrives, you will arrange it so that it looks great – and you will continue to look after your displayed products throughout the day.

Salary

This role is a great place to enter into this business and this industry.  The role is unique, so the employer does not expect to employ someone with all the knowledge needed to do the role well.  Rather, they have promised to provide considerable training.

  • Commencing salary $40,000 - $45,000

What you need to have

As you will be selling flowers to customers who are already very knowledgeable about them, it is a given that you must have some knowledge of flowers.  Some creative flair in how to care for and present flowers attractively may also be an advantage.

You will be dealing with repeat customers constantly, so you need to be friendly, outgoing, and be both clearly spoken and comfortable building up relationships over the phone.

Three things will give you an edge over other applicants:

  1. Confidence – to easily strike up conversation with both your suppliers and customers
  2. Attitude – zero reluctance to respectfully chase after sales opportunities
  3. Aptitude – the capability to ask questions and then to retain what you learn – and put it into practice

An average to above average level of computer literacy will be essential, as will a quick and accurate data entry speed.
