Detail information about job Content Manager / Assistant Editor. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Great opportunity to join the editorial team at category-leading media company
  • Varied content creation role, working across multiple brand channels
  • Automotive sector knowledge and technical background an advantage

Are you a media professional with a passion for all things automotive? We’re looking for an editor to join the team creating content for NZ’s leading motoring brand channels. If writing copy for long-form print comes as easily to you as crafting social posts that capture and engage, and you have the technical smarts to write knowledgeably about mechanical stuff, then we want to hear from you.

About you:

Ideally you’ll have a solid journalistic grounding and be excited about the opportunities the current varied media environment provides for communicating with an audience. You’ll be up to date with trends across social media platforms and skilled at repurposing content appropriately for different media channels.

Your enthusiasm for the written word will mean that your command of the English language is exemplary, and your proofreading skills will enable you to spot a typo at a glance. Adept at navigating the modern journalist’s agile environment, you will be proficient interviewing sources, crafting copy from press releases, writing instructional technical material, as well as shooting and editing associated imagery.

Your automotive knowledge might come from a background in trades or related disciplines, or you might be a keen hobbyist with deep involvement and networks in the scene.

Your friendly, confident nature will help you forge internal and external relationships that will enable you to 'get things done'. You will thrive on managing a heavy workload, and you will achieve satisfaction from completing a busy to-do list on regular weekly deadline, with key drivers being journalistic excellence and accuracy.

If you fit the profile above, send your CV together with a brief cover letter telling us why you are best suited to join our team, making sure you can confidently show the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience in a journalism/media or related role

  • Proficiency with content management systems, GSuite, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere

  • Credible automotive sector knowledge

  • Ability to self-manage and work autonomously to deadline with excellent time management skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail, a real 'i' dotter and 't' crosser

  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills: ability to persuade and influence

  • Enthusiastic, can-do attitude, team player, with creative nous and a passion for media

  • Confident, articulate, and unflappable individual who can be relied upon to stay calm and deliver in pressure situations.

Applications close 5pm, Friday, 27 July.
