Community Compliance as part of Customer and Compliance Services - Individuals is the face of Inland Revenue. We have opportunities for enthusiastic Community Compliance Officers to join our team on a fixed term basis for 18 months.

 

As a Community Compliance Officer you will support our customers to get it right from the start by:

  • Working directly with customers; educating and helping them understand their obligations and entitlements
  • Engaging and building relationships with community groups, tax professionals, small businesses and our Māori community
  • Delivering seminars and presentations
  • Working with challenging customers to address identified non-compliance through a range of appropriate enforcement interventions

 

The key skills of a successful Community Compliance Officer:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; being able to engage with a wide range of people while clearly and accurately conveying information
  • The ability to identify the real issues and build trust in potentially difficult, sensitive and/or complex situations
  • A sales focus to connect customers to the right products and services that meet their needs
  • Digital literacy to learn and quickly use a range of Inland Revenue and business systems, processes and software
  • The capability to understand and apply legislation and policy
  • A drive for results, a knack for problem solving and being able to make good quality decisions on your feet
  • A willingness to learn and ability to apply new learning at pace
  • A continuous improvement focus that will drive towards Inland Revenue's goals for the future
  • A current New Zealand driver's licence (essential)
  • Flexibility - available for varied working hours and travel away from home (essential)
