The opportunity

This is an opportunity to become an integral part of the ICT team that provides technical advisory services to Auckland Council’s Libraries. You will join the ICT Library Systems Specialist team meaning you will be a go to application expert. You will be working closely with business stakeholders and vendors on a variety of different applications including the delivery of new technologies. You will continually provide technical application expertise and consultancy services to the business while ensuring the Library ICT services are kept at optimal operational levels. Finally, you will be working closely with vendors and stakeholders ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to scope.

About you

You have a tertiary degree majoring in a relevant area such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Software engineering and 5-7 years of broad experience in IT including in-depth application experience. You will have 3-5 years of experience in the implementation of applications and software in highly complex business environments. You have experience in modern technologies such as SaaS solutions enablement, integration technologies, digital and web service solutions as well as modern API management.

You will have outstanding communications and stakeholder management skills. You will be able to liaise with business stakeholders, vendors and other ICT teams to ensure that we deliver comprehensive and superior services to all of Council. You will have advanced problem solving and trouble shooting skills and the right attitude for taking actions and going beyond what is expected.  Finally, you will you have knowledge of emerging development and cloud technologies. For example, building applications using java or Microsoft stack technologies, and maintaining on premise and/or cloud hosting solutions.

What we offer

You will be joining a growing progressive business unit that wants to improve its service and product knowledge to help Auckland Council libraries deliver a high value service to its customers. You will assist a large internal client that has more than 50 libraries across the Auckland region covering Whangaparaoa in the north, Great Barrier island in the gulf and Pukekohe in the south. You will be able to deliver innovative products to the libraries such as smart shelves and other RFID technology. There are many more exciting initiatives currently underway within this large and complex business unit so if you think Libraries means they are slow or boring you’re wrong.
