UI UX Designer - 12 month maternity cover

The Role

We are looking for a talented UI/UX designer to design and shape unique, user-centric products and experiences. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, transforming any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction. You will have experience working in agile teams, with developers, UX designers and copywriters.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
  • Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
  • Develop user personas through collaboration with product management and other stakeholders
  • Be a great team player, experienced in working with agile teams. Ability to collaborate closely with developers, copywriters and UX designer

Essential Criteria

  • A strong user-centered design mindset
  • Proven UI experience (ideally UX also)
  • Demonstrable UI design skills with strong portfolio to be presented during interview.
  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, and process flows etc.
  • Experience using tools such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, InVision, Balsamiq or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience working with developers to progress design assets into a format closer to developer CSS implementation. (e.g. zeplin.io)
  • Creative ideas with problem solving mindset.
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.
  • Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders.
  • Up to date with the latest UI trends, techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own work to meet agreed objectives
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
