  • Are you a recent graduate looking to gain exposure within a fast-paced and dynamic environment?
  • Fixed-term position to December 2019
  • Newly-created role within the Visa Services team

The purpose of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is to Grow New Zealand for All.  Our goal is to create a strong and high-performing economy by creating an environment that supports businesses to become more productive and internationally competitive.

Visa Services 2020 is a customer excellence programme within Immigration New Zealand.  It is being implemented over the next two years. With digital technology and bringing more work onshore the outcome will be a more accurate, consistent and timely service. This is an ambitious programme of work that will create a number of new opportunities across the Visa Services group as we transition over the coming years.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a graduate to join the Visa Services Team on a fixed-term basis to support the Commercial Analyst and Commercial Advisor to ensure that the processes surrounding the reporting and the administration of the team's contracts are well managed.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • The day-to-day management of contract performance and contract reporting
  • Monitoring progress, raising issues and ensuring reporting requirements are met
  • Ensuring supplier reporting obligations are met and third-party data is accurate and maintained
  • Developing strong working relationships and engaging with key stakeholders to provide high -quality advice and ensure obligations of the Visa Services contracts are maintained

This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain exposure to a Government organization within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.  You may have gained experience in managing contracts or the administration of contracts; you may have experience in a customer service or more general administrative environment.  And whilst a tertiary-level qualification is a requirement, what's important to us is your ability to use your initiative to anticipate requirements while ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.  You'll also enjoy dealing with people at different levels, taking a customer-focussed approach to your working relationships.

Experience and skills required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of (or interest in learning) of the legal construct of contracts
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with a range stakeholders, suppliers or managers
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Comfortable having robust conversations with service providers about their performance
  • Ability to gain and maintain a national security clearance to LEVEL Confidential

A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of working within a Government organisation would also be beneficial.

We have career development opportunities within the Ministry for hard-working performers so this could be the first step in your career that could lead you in any direction you choose.
