About the business

Volleyball Hawkes Bay is a regional non-profit sports organisation and a registered charity CC54104 responsible for the development of volleyball competitions in Hawkes Bay.

During 2017, there were about 2,900 players involved in week-day volleyball and KiwiVolley competitions or about 3,700 players if you include tournament participation.

For the year ending 30 June 2018 Volleyball Hawkes Bay had a turnover of over $200k 

About the role

The Game Development Manager will report to the Operations Manager & provide support for;

Competitions & Events

  • Management and development of Indoor and Beach volleyball competitions in Hawkes Bay including draws and results
  • Liaise with and support the provision of volleyball events and services provided by affiliated organisations
  • Manage the running of any regional, national or international events that are held in this Region
  • Maintain accurate draws and results on Volleyball Hawke's Bay website
  • Ensure competitions/events are well organised, enjoyable for participants and meet budget
  • Provide adequate pre-competition / pre- event information to all potential attending teams
  • Set up, manage and supervise competitions/events
  • Organise draws for competitions/tournaments
  • Manage prize-giving
  • Evaluate the success of each competition and event and make suggestions for future improvements

Representative Programmes

  • Facilitate and coordinate a Representative programme so that Hawke's Bay can participate at Age Group and Senior competitions at National and Regional levels.

Coaching & Refereeing

  • Facilitate and coordinate Coaching and Refereeing personnel

Human Resources

  • Management of casual staff, coaches and referees involved in Volleyball Hawkes Bay's competitions, representative programmes and Sports Skills in School programmes.

Administration, Communications & Social Media

  • Assist the Operations Manager in Administering all the office functions at Volleyball Hawke's Bay, including correspondence, email and telephone communication
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies and practices
  • Manage and keep updated Volleyball Hawkes Bay's Facebook Page www.facebook.com/volleyballHB
  • Manage and keep updated Volleyball Hawkes Bay's Website Page www.volleyballhb.org.nz
  • Regular Communication to the volleyball community

Funding Applications

  • Assist the Operations Manager in preparing funding applications
  • Assist the Operations Manager in managing existing and future funding streams and sponsorship by building relationships with sponsors, funding agencies, Sport Hawke's Bay and the business community

Work hours will be 37.5 hours per week, providing funding applications for salary are successful, otherwise 20 hours per week.

The role would suit a person with volleyball coaching skills, strong administration and computer skills, including social media. Experience with Xero would be an advantage. Occasional weekend work will also be required around events.

The position is based in Napier and the successful candidate will have the option of working in the Sport Hawkes Bay office at Pettigrew Green Arena or from home. 

Ideally the successful candidate will be able to start work on 3 September.
