Dual Position
Customer Service and Sales Advisor/Learn to Swim Teacher
32 hours per week – Monday to Sunday
Swimming is an important recreation activity for many New Zealanders, and ensuring people are safe and confident in the water is a key focus for Hamilton Pools.
Our service and staff are dedicated to providing affordable and accessible recreation and leisure opportunities encouraging participation and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our community and working in partnership with the award-winning Northern Arena swim school.
The position
We are currently recruiting for a brand new and exciting dual position of Customer Service and Sales Advisor/Learn to Swim Teacher. You’ll be one of the faces of Hamilton Pools, responsible for welcoming, admitting and assisting customers, and teaching Learn to Swim classes in an encouraging, safe and professional environment.
Candidates need to be able to demonstrate the following:
- A great can-do attitude to ensure you are able to deliver excellent customer service
- Great communication skills
- Ability to be an effective high-performing team member
- Previous experience dealing face to face with customers in a busy environment
- Have a positive and friendly telephone manner
- Ability to handle cash and maintain accurate records
- Competent in IT systems
- An interest in enhancing the health and well-being of the community
- In addition, you’ll need to be able to work as rostered any day Monday to Sunday at either Waterworld or Gallagher Aquatic Centre in Hamilton.
What happens next?

- Shadow two 30-minute Learn to Swim classes
- Candidates who successfully achieve the practical test will be invited to a formal interview with our hiring team.

This position is 32 hours per week as rostered Monday to Sunday. The starting range is $18.26 per hour, working up to $20 per hour.
