About the position
We have a great opportunity for an Operations Manager who has strong operational management and leadership skills to take on this integral role in our Kerikeri team.
Reporting to the General Manager - Diversified Horticulture you will be responsible for leading and managing the business unit to provide reliable and high quality supply of Citrus and Berry Fruits. You will be a "hands on" manager who is more comfortable outdoors in gumboots than in the office. You will be responsible for the following:
- Execution of orchard crop development and new crop initiatives
- Identifying and implementing operational efficiencies
- Championing the delivery of health & safety
- Leading orchard operation continuous improvement projects
- Developing, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Leading, mentoring and coaching staff, and building a highly engaged, motivated and high performing team
- Financial management including budgeting and KPI reporting.
What we are looking for:
To be successful in this role our ideal candidate will need:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Operations management role managing teams and production
- Ideally you will have experience within Primary industries. Fresh produce and growing knowledge would be a definite advantage
- The ability to motivate others, lead by example and build effective relationships
- Effectively manage large and diverse teams
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A strong understanding and experience with H&S and HR practices
- The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast moving environment
