The company has developed a strong niche in Business as Usual forest management, valuation and consulting, the ETS and carbon and has established 'in-house' GIS and inventory capabilities.
In addition to this we have a strong existing and growing rural client base for whom we carry out Land Use Assessments and explore/implement alternative species opportunities.
Woodnet has been part of the FOMS Ltd group since November 2017 and is now on an exciting growth path with an expanded client base and project work that is coming out of accelerating demand for quality forest management advice and implementation.
Jobs Description
Woodnet are currently looking for a highly experienced and energetic person to join our team in a senior position in the business. The role has a dual function in that the applicant may be positioned to succeed the current GM at an appropriate time.
Initially the focus of the role is as a Consultant/Team leader to provide direct support to the General Manager of the business and work closely with the existing Team members. While the business is located in Masterton and it is preferred that this role is based here, location is flexible for the right person. The successful candidate will be required to hit the ground running with the provision of services to existing clients and also undertake business development activities in the market.
Some areas of focus will include:
- Assist the GM with planning, budgeting and drive development to meet our business objectives
- Undertake general forest consultancy work including forest valuations
- Support the GIS, Land use, Inventory and Forest Management team
- Interact with clients in a way that adds value and builds on the existing relationships we have
- Aid in growing the business as we roll out staff located across the North Island
- Ensure the systems we have in place will develop and support the growing staff and associated workload
- Actively take ownership of your own self development and upskilling
Key experiences and capabilities include:
- A minimum of 10 years experience in the NZ forest industry
- Demonstrated skills and experience within Forest Consultancy and/or Management
- A willingness to learn across a matrix of land use possibilities for hill country land owners, report on and implement solutions
- Tertiary or suitable training organisation qualifications relating to forestry management
- A strong track record in good relationship management
- Strong safety and environmental credentials
- Excellent communication and teamwork attributes
- An approach that demonstrates that you take ownership of your work and look for ways to continually improve
The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in a similar role and must work well in a team setting. Relocation support will be offered to the successful candidate.
