The Company
This business started as a family owned operation several years ago and has grown to over 40 staff across two nursery sites.  They grow berries, tamirillos, feijoas, passionfruit, figs and guavas for retail customers across New Zealand.  The business has a strong reputation for innovation and quality when it comes to their fruit with numerous accolades to show for it. 

The Job
This is an integrated role in which you will be responsible for planning, organising and controlling the propagation of all crops to ensure all plants are propagated efficiently, on time, within budget and to TNL agreed standards as well as provide staff support for those reporting to you.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the propagation of all plants up to the point of handover to production in accordance with Propagation compliance documents
  • Co-ordinate and manage all propagation technologies, greenhouse controls, and irrigation systems to ensure optimum conditions are achieved
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve techniques and efficiency
  • Manager stock plant quantities and quality and stock garden
  • Manager off site propagation material sources
  • Manage, train and supervise employees according to TNL standards and policies
  • Proactive in weed control
  • Plan crop growth to ensure future sales are achievable
  • Maintain and adhere to strict S.O.P

Skills & Experience

  • Propagation experience is a must
  • Management and communication skills
  • Strategic planning and attention to detail
  • Experience working in a nursery would be beneficial

The ideal person will need to be passionate about horticulture and must have propagation experience.
