Grants and Funding Coordinator

Hours: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm
Remuneration: Dependant on level of experience and demonstrated skills

Come and be part of an internationally recognised organisation, led by a dedicated team of professionals who continuously push the boundaries of early intervention practice, delivering best practice therapy to children right here in our own backyard!

The Champion Centre is a Canterbury based charity that provides internationally recognised centre-based therapy for children with significant developmental delays and disabilities, between the ages of 0 and 6 years. Working in partnership with families, the Champion Centre creates the educational foundations, so that each child is set on the path to achieving their fullest potential.

As the Champion Centre is only partially Government funded, we rely heavily on the generosity of others who are passionate about social responsibility and who want to make a difference in our society. With an annual funding shortfall to ‘chase’, our funding team plays a critical role in our operations, keeping the lights on, and ensuring families have access to the quality services we offer. It can be a daunting task for some to fathom, but we’ve been doing it for 40 years and have some exciting endeavours on the horizon.

The Grants and Funding Coordinator is responsible for managing all facets of the Champion Centre’s grants portfolio as well as playing a pivotal role in supporting other core funding activities.

Reporting to the Development Director the Grants and Funding Coordinator will be responsible for identifying suitable funding prospects, writing compelling grant submissions, allocating and reporting on funds and creating and maintaining genuine relationships with funders.

Key responsibilities of the Grants and Funding Coordinator include:

  • Undertaking prospect research and analysis
  • Creating professional and compelling grant submissions
  • Developing and maintaining a grant schedule and calendar of key submission dates
  • Developing and managing a suite of associated grant documentation
  • Generating funding reports from Xero
  • Creating and maintaining regular engagement with funders, including acknowledgements and updates
  • Accountability reporting to funders, including Government funders
  • Database and file management
  • Assisting with other fundraising activities and initiatives
  • Working with, and supporting the Accounts Clerk in the preparation of end of year financial reporting
  • Assisting and participating in monthly Board meetings, including report compilation and minute-taking
  • Front office support, including managing calls when office staff are unavailable
  • Supporting the Development Director with other funding and commercial activities as required, including database management, communications and marketing support.

Due to the nature of the role we require someone who is both a good team player and also highly capable of working autonomously. The person must be experienced in writing grant proposals, be a self-starter, highly motivated, have great oral and written communications skills and a meticulous attention to detail.

Applicants should be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and a knowledge of Xero would be desirable. For the right applicant training can be provided.

As some local travel may be required, a relevant drivers licence and own vehicle will be required. Candidates will be subject to Police checks and must meet the standards of the Vulnerable Children’s Act.

If you have what it takes, are prepared to take ownership, join a hard-working team, and have a genuine desire to play a role in supporting families in our community, then we want to hear from you. Send your CV and a covering letter to [email protected]

Application reviews will begin on 16 July 2018.
