This is an exciting opportunity that has arisen in our service for a Whanau worker who is passionate about family/whanau, community wellbeing and wants to be part of creating better outcomes for those who are living in substandard, overcrowded accommodation or find themselves in an urgent housing need. This position will be full time and based in South Auckland. The role will be to support the social work and tenancy staff along with families, to find sustainable housing solutions through advocacy.
If you are successful you will be joining an organisation that has a great reputation in the community of working with and advocating for homeless families for 36 years.
Our team is dedicated to supporting families to achieve sustainable housing through our emergency, transitional & longer term housing with wrap around social services. This role does involve driving out and about in Auckland.

- Evidence of excellent people and communication skills,
- The ability to help & support families.
- Have assessment skills
- Great time management skills
- Evidence a working knowledge of child safety, domestic violence, addiction, mental health, probation and homelessness would be an advantage.
- Previous experience of working with Maori, Pacific Island and new immigrants with a clear commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Experience in using data systems.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with clients, Monte team, and external agencies.
- Full and clean drivers licence
- 3 years of work experience in a related field would be preferable but not a requirement.
- The ability to speak Tongan or Samoan would also be of benefit.
