Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is in the community every day seeking to make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and their whānau. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for getting things right for our tamariki and to join our Care and Protection team as a Social Worker at our Dunedin site.
We are an enthusiastic, welcoming and caring team with positive relationships with stakeholders across the region. You will join our site with a big heart and a passion for getting things right for its children, young people and community. You will be part of a positive and supportive team that helps children and young people be safe, strong and thrive.
Day to day activities will include meeting with children and young people and ensuring their voices are heard, completing assessments, creating plans, participating in family group conferences and partnering with other agencies and the community to get the best outcomes.
Using the latest strengths based practice tools and assessment frameworks, you will work hard to get quality outcomes for mokopuna and whānau.
Your tenacity to overcome everyday barriers and ability to drive positive outcomes will put you in good stead for this challenging yet hugely rewarding role.

Preference is given to those who have:
- A Social Work qualification recognised by the Social Work Registration Board (SWRB)
- SWRB registration with current APC or working towards gaining registration
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Resilience, motivation and are driven
- Able to build rapport with people from all backgrounds
- Flexibility to work an afterhours duty roster
- Strong computer skills
- A full clean valid driver's licence without conditions
